There Is Nothing to Fear

Jan 21, 2026    Aaron Simms

At the heart of this message lies a profound and unsettling truth: fear is not just an inconvenience in our Christian walk—it's fundamentally incompatible with who we are in Christ. Drawing from Jesus's direct command not to fear or be anxious, we're confronted with the reality that fear accomplishes nothing except creating a vacuum that separates us from God's purposes. The closing chapters of Revelation remind us that we're heading toward a new heaven and new earth where there will be no more death, mourning, crying, or pain—yet we live as though our current circumstances define reality. This message challenges us to recognize that every second spent in fear is a second spent believing a lie rather than trusting the living God who dwells within us. The call isn't to manage our fear better or develop coping mechanisms, but to renounce it entirely as we would any other sin. When we truly grasp that our times are in the Lord's hands and that nothing can separate us from His love, fear loses its power. The question becomes: what work has God called us to do that fear has kept us from accomplishing? What genius lies dormant within us because we've chosen the comfortable lie of 'what if' over the uncomfortable truth of obedience? This isn't about reckless living but about recognizing that perfect love casts out all fear, and that love is already dwelling in us.
